Situated on a promontory in the heart of the Estérel massif, Domaine Terres Destel overlooks the Bay of Saint-Raphaël and the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. This atypical location, on the slopes of a volcanic rock massif, offers the vineyard the rays of the Provence sun and the Mediterranean sea breezes


Terroir

In the heart of the Esterel massif, the "Terres Destel" estate overlooks the plains of the Var, the Bay of Saint-Raphaël and the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. This atypical location on the slopes of a volcanic rock massif offers the vineyard the rays of the Provence sun and the Mediterranean sea breezes. The estate's soil is covered with pozzolana and rhyolite, giving exceptional finesse and minerality to the different cuvées produced. Our vines draw from this soil, combining mineral and vegetal elements, the quintessence of a land that is hundreds of millions of years old.

Cultivation

Situated in a protected "Natura 2000" site, far from sources of road pollution, Domaine Terres Destel is committed to protecting the landscape and biodiversity. Several years ago, we opted for chemical-free mechanical weeding to maintain our vineyards. Thanks to the dedication and passion of the men and women who work here every day, Domaine Terres Destel has been using organic farming methods since 2019, and its wines will be certified organic from the 2023 vintage. Domaine Terres Destel is also HVE level 3 certified. Harvesting is carried out manually in August/September of each year for our top-of-the-range red wines, in order to obtain a draconian selective sorting to eliminate any bunches whose integrity is not perfect.

Grape varieties

We have chosen the most aromatic grape varieties of the Côtes de Provence. Our rosés are made from Grenache for its finesse and intensity, Cinsault for the lightness of its aromas, Syrah for its fabulous red fruit notes, and Tibouren for its citrus notes, with a predominance of lemon and a beautiful minerality on the finish. Our reds are a blend of Syrah for its aromatic intensity and violet fragrance, Grenache for its finesse and Mourvèdre for its ripe red fruit notes. Our whites are made from Rolle or Vermentino grapes which, when harvested at the right maturity, reveal their citrus and exotic fruit aromas.
